Researchers Note:
In the author's possession is a write-up on the members of Company H, 75th NYS Volunteer Infantry Regiment, 1862. This write-up was made in 1862 by A.A.Frazee, a sergeant in Company H, 75th NYS Volunteer Infantry Regiment, in a series of daily diaries he kept. On May 5, 1862 he lists field and staff, officers and privates of this regiment. Among those names entered is John J. Baker. This is the only reference to this veteran contained in this diary entry.

Researchers Note:  The indigent soldier burial report lists this veteran's surname as Brosneo and the pension report lists his surname as Brochnow. How these variations of the surname of this veteran came into existence is confusing and beyond the scope of this study.
