Washington. Enlisted in Company B, Twenty-second Michigan Infantry, August 9, 1862, at Romeo, for 3 years, age 22. Mustered August 14, 1862. Died of disease at Lexington, Kentucky, January 9, 1863.

Romeo. Enlisted in Company E, Fifth Michigan Cavalry, as Corporal, August 22, 1862, at Armada, for 3 years, age 33. Mustered August 27, 1862. Honorably discharged at Detroit, Michigan, December 4, 1862.

Researchers Note: The headstone for this veteran lists his date of death as March 29, 1923. This veteran’s death certificate and Volume B of the Indigent Soldiers Burial Report list his date of death as March 30, 1923. The reason for this discrepancy is unknown.

First Lieutenant, October 16, 1864. Not mustered. Discharged December 19, 1864. After the War he lived in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

Enlistment Rank:  Second Lieutenant. Promoted First Lieutenant.

Macomb County. Enlisted in Company I, Ninth Michigan Infantry, as Drummer, August 15, 1861, at Mt. Clemens, for 3 years, age 20. Mustered October 15, 1861. Taken prisoner at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, July 13, 1862. Paroled. No further record.

Mt. Clemens. Entered service in Company D, Eighth Michigan Cavalry, at organization, as First Lieutenant, October 18, 1862, at Mt. Clemens, for 3 years, age 20. Commissioned November 1, 1862. Mustered January 20, 1863. Wounded in action October 26, 1863. Resigned on account of disability, February 9, 1865.

Enlistment Rank:  Drummer (9th Mich. Inf.) / First Lieutenant (8th Mich. Cav.).

Researchers Note:  The name on this pension application is Arthur W. Eastman, however, after extensive research, in our opinion this is the same man. The pension application for this veteran indicates service in Company I, Ninth Michigan Infantry, and Company D, Eighth Michigan Cavalry. To that end, the record of this veteran's service in the Eighth Michigan Cavalry, which is listed under Arthur W. Eastman, is included.

Promoted First Lieutenant, Company A, June 1, 1862. Wounded in action at Charles City Cross Roads, Virginia, June 30, 1862. Resigned December 20, 1862. Commissioned Major, Eighth Michigan Cavalry, at organization, November 17, 1862. Mustered January 20, 1863. Resigned on account of disability January 8, 1865.

Enlistment Rank:  Second Lieutenant.  Promoted to First Lieutenant.  Promoted to Major.

Researchers Note:  There was also a contesting widow, Pearl (Ward) Edgerly, who filed for pension, however, this was disallowed as they were never legally married.

Researchers Note:  According to the pension file for this veteran, he died in Topeka, Kansas, and the affidavit of the undertaker states that he was buried in the Topeka Cemetery. Whether he was re-interred from Topeka, Kansas, to Clinton Grove has not been established. He is listed in the Clinton Grove burial listing as being in Clinton Grove Cemetery.
