Mustered March 29, 1864. Promoted Corporal January 5, 1864. Promoted Sergeant March 16, 1865. Mustered out at Macon, Georgia, August 17, 1865.

Researchers Note: Enlisted in Company G, 8th New York Heavy Artillery, on August 6, 1862, at Batavia, New York, age 26. Pension records also indicate this veteran served in Company G, 129th New York Infantry and finally transferred to Company U, (Unassigned) 2nd Battalion, Veteran's Reserve Corps.

Researchers Note: The state of New York, the state from which this veteran served, did not publish a series of books on the soldiers serving for the Union during the Civil War, 1861-1865 as did Michigan and many other states. In Michigan, there was published a "Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War, 1861-1865", commonly called the "brown books", which cover soldiers from the state of Michigan during this conflict. We do know, however, from the pension record of this veteran, the information listed above.

Oakland County. Enlisted in Band, Seventh Michigan Infantry, July 17, 1861, at Monroe, for 3 years, age 27. Mustered August 22, 1861. Mustered out at Harrison's Landing, Virginia, August 8, 1862.
