Died September 3, 1864, of wounds received in action at Jonesboro, Georgia, September 1, 1864. Buried at Lexington, Michigan.

Researchers Note: This veteran is listed as being buried in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Michigan. The headstone located in the Powell Cemetery is probably a memorial headstone placed there by his brother J. W. (Jerome Whiton) Nims, who is buried there. The headstone probably does not represent that this veteran is actually buried in the Powell Cemetery.
