Researchers Note: According to a special veteran census conducted in 1890, this veteran suffered from being wounded in the left ankle. This was reported by his widow. Also noted that this veteran died of Bright's disease March 11, 1880.

The State of Michigan and Macomb County death records indicate that this veteran died on March 27, 1902. Assuming the local records are more apt to be accurate, the March 27, 1902, death date seems more plausible. On this death record, it is also recorded that this veteran was a Captain of a vessel on the Great Lakes after the war.
